Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Jersey‘, which has been delayed for a long time, is now finally in theatres.

Jersey Movie Story:

In the film, Shahid played the role of a cricketer named Arjun Talwar. An effortless batsman, who doesn’t have to stoop to hit the shots, just spins his wrists and the ball looks across the ropes. For players like Arjun, similes like talented and gifted are used. He has no competition on the ground.

His real battle is outside the field, and there are many, not just one. Age first. Arjun is 36 years old. It’s been years since he left cricket. There is a wife and a son at home. If he tries to do anything other than cricket, then failure is bound to happen. Due to this, there is also a rift with the wife. Arjun once again decides to make a comeback on the ground. Whether he can rise above the situation or not, is the story ahead. This story is not just a story of a man going on the field again and hitting fours and sixes.

This is the story of Zid. A father’s insistence that he should not fall at least from the eyes of his son, no matter how the rest of the world perceives him. Along with that, this is the story of a man to proves himself. And he should not prove himself to anyone else. He has to show this aging Arjun that this man is not a loser, he still has the same spark left in him.

There are some such moments in the film where Shahid’s performance emerges. When Arjun is at the peak of his career in his youth, then there is a kind of arrogance in him, about himself, about his game. Kabir Singh’s Shahid hits the mind after seeing his advanced scenes. However, with age, life brings her this advance down. At a time when society has exhausted the worth of a bright player, Shahid was not used properly here. Because if some moments are removed, then Arjun Talwar seems less and Shahid Kapoor more in most of the scenes. However, the same cannot be said for Pankaj Kapur, who plays Arjun’s coach in the film.

Emotions have been tried to be given a special place in the film. The emotion between boyfriend and girlfriend, the Emotion between a father and son, the Emotion between a coach and a player. The sooner the film builds up its emotional moments, it also brings it down. Like at some places you want the scene to have some pause, some invisible wall between the two characters is breaking in front, give them time to fall. But then the lines of the song play in the background, and the scene starts getting distracted. The repetitive use of songs could have been reduced to a great extent.

Verdict

According to the Faithful remake, Shahid’s film ‘Jersey‘ is a good effort, just it cannot add anything new from its side.
