Sardar Ka Grandson Story:

The stigma of partition of the country has been threaded by Hindi cinema in many of its stories. Those who were forced to leave their homes at the time of the Partition tragedy may have settled elsewhere, but the memories of the ancestral home remained in their minds. This is also the basis of the story of the film ‘Sardar Ka Grandson‘, directed by Kaashvie Nair. The film’s story revolves around Amrik (Arjun Kapoor), who lives in Los Angeles, and his girlfriend Radha (Rakul Preet Singh), who runs a Packers and Movers company named Gentley Gentley.

However, Amrik does not do any work with seriousness. Her 90-year-old grandmother in Amritsar (Nina Gupta) wishes to visit her ancestral home in Lahore, from which memories of her late husband are associated. Grandma is definitely old-fashioned but is very lively and warm-hearted. Pakistan refuses to grant him a visa. The film is about how Amrik fulfills his grandmother’s wishes and what problems he has to face.

Sardar Ka Grandson Movie Review:

The story of Sardar Ka Grandson does not convey the joy of getting his ancestral home after partition in that way. Though the concept of the film is good, due to the weak screenplay, the film neither impresses as a family drama nor is it able to properly explore India-Pakistan relations.

This is the first film of Kaashvie as a director. He has written the film’s story with Anuja Chauhan. This is a serious subject. A lot of people have sentiments attached to it, but they have failed to evoke the emotional aspects of the characters. He needed to do extensive research on the tragedy of Partition.

Talking about the artists, there is no significant difference in Arjun Kapoor’s gestures, whether it is a breakup or an attempt to stop his grandmother’s ancestral house from breaking. Rakul Preet has just looked beautiful. Neena Gupta plays the role of an elderly grandmother. Her prosthetic make-up looks very artificial to show her age. Nina is a great actress, due to a weak script, her talent has not been utilized properly. The film stars John Abraham as a guest. He is also the co-producer of the film.
