Candy Web Series Review:

Candy‘ does everything that could have been done to make her existence worthwhile. In these episodes, she tries to cover a lot of relevant issues. This includes everything from drugs to sexual harassment, family squabbles, serial killings, and bullying at the hands of seniors in school. Efforts are also made to deal with every subject with the same seriousness. But he is not able to work out completely. But there is no such thing as a completely scattered situation. However, in this process, this series sometimes goes loud and over the top too. But during this, its thrill factor remains intact. This series looks beautiful.

The camerawork of the film is good. Along with establishing the location of the story, it is also pleasing to the eyes. Many attempts are made to connect the fictional town named Rudrakund with the film’s narrative. But this attempt proves to be unsuccessful. However, the strong performances of the actors save ‘Candy‘ from being mere eye candy.

Acting:

Richa Chadha has played the role of DSP Ratna Sankhawar in this series. This woman has a very sad backstory, which is shown to us with the help of flashbacks. It is fun to see Richa dealing with school children in the initial episodes of the series. She calls a child a mid-size bully, who makes a funny sound in a large tense situation. There is a scene in the series when Ratna tries to kill her 3-4-year-old girl. Because she feels that she is not a good mother.

Not only, but Richa Chadha, almost all the primary characters of this series also have proper backstories. For example, a school teacher named Jayant, played by Ronit Roy, is unable to recover from the death of his daughter. Because of this, he cannot sleep at night. That is why he is devotedly engaged in solving this serial killing case. As if he has some personal connection with this case. Mani Ranaut aka Bhaiyaji has a different story going on which is not related to his son. Manu Rishi Chadha has played the role of Bhaiyaji. His son Vayu’s own picture is going on. But when the tracks of all these characters merge, then the layers of this series start opening. Which is not mind-blowing but is engaging well.

Verdict:

Candy‘ is the first serial killer series of its kind, which has more than one serial killer. However, those killers do not have any solid or valid reason to kill people. This is the biggest problem of this series. Despite all the good things, it gets killed in the matter of authenticity. Whatever is happening in this series, it is not very sure. You always get the feeling that you are watching a made-up story. But ‘Candy’ is never slow or boring. It runs at full speed the whole time. And maintaining that pace in 8 consecutive episodes is not easy.

If we look at the content being made in India, then ‘Candy‘ seems to be the right series. But when you compare it with any foreign series, you will be disappointed. Not having that sharpness in this series stings you as a spectator.
